Elevated to national EKGB level my refereeing qualifications progressed from English ‘B’ class judge to English ‘A’ class referee and England ‘A’ Kata judge in the space of 3 short years.

As well as refereeing at many national events including the British championships, I have also officiated at the World Kenpo Karate Association European championships and WKC World championships in Aberdeen where I was also the FEKO team Manager.

In June 2004 at the 4th World Karate Confederation championships in Caorle Italy I was awarded my WKC World Referee and Kata judge qualification

In 2001, Sensei Dennis and I started a children’s charity ‘Youth Sports UK’ that was aimed at promoting sporting activities to young people, and to try and get more youngsters into a more active lifestyle. Through this, I have become very involved with the importance of Child Protection in sport, and as well as being the Lead Signature with the Criminal Records Bureau for both the charity and SenShinRyu Karate, I have also been offered and taken on the role of child protection officer with Nailsea Junior FC and help in setting child protection policies for many other sporting groups.

Since moving to North Somerset in 1990 I have endeavoured to become involved in helping this community, I have been a member of the council and have also been elected to the position of Vice-chairman of North Somerset sports council, where I am on several committees that include the Grant Aid committee, the annual Sports Personality committee and assist in the general promotion of encouraging more sport and better facilities within the North Somerset area.
